    I haven’t made these lovely macarons yet, but thought you might like to know that you can buy champagne flavoring online at olivenation.com. The flavoring makes my champagne cakes much tastier; it takes the alcohol edge off of the champagne, making the cake much more enjoyable.

    Also, I found a recipe for a buttercream called “Baker’s Buttercream” on tasteofhome.com. That recipe adds nondairy powdered coffee creamer to a regular buttercream recipe (butter, confectioner’s sugar, vanilla extract), which takes away that “raw” confectioner’s sugar taste (yuck!) and gives the buttercream a little smoother mouth feel. That’s my go-to recipe now for American-style buttercream.

    (I actually prefer Swiss meringue buttercream, which I make with reconstituted Deb-El dried egg whites when I don’t need egg yolks for the recipe).
